Kind of reminds me of omori's Spaces in-between and Trees, both tracks which I really like. If I heard this track in a game it would probably be one of the most ear wormy tunes after the traumatic truth get's revealed :) *yes I still am traumatised from omori after 2 years*

MauveDash responds:

I got through a bit of Omori and then life happened and I'm waiting until I'm ready to get through more of it :(

The guitar OH BOY THE GUITAR, boy does it not mix well with the rest, like everything feels so isolated which creates this jazz. IT'S NOT MIXED WELL, there's a solid idea laying under all the issues I have with the samples you chose, what volume each instrument is, the way you mixed it, but all those issues are just too much for me personally.

DaxCamdaxian responds:

Noted! I'll keep that in mind for a possible second version of this track.
Interestingly the initial mix from my point of view sounded much worse, I appreciate you being honest with your comments

Yeah I can understand why you would go on a break, quality over quantity and also personal life. Have nothing against that. Just, the mixing here is not great, and also the samples don't fit each other *that well*, I feel like it could be solid, but nothing special. There's certainly not much wrong with this one overall, the composition definitely took a lot of time, which it shows (in some regards), but overall -eeeh not the best not the worst

ButterBees responds:

That's fair, I suppose. It is a backlog track from a fairly long time ago - like about a year or more - so it's not exactly reflective of my current quality. I do sincerely recommend checking out some of my other songs as well, if you're interested.

We'll get them next time I guess lol

Ya like jazz?
It sounds rather more experimental than jazz on it's own. I guess it also could fit where the name jazz came from. I like it quite a bit, it does end before it has the time to develop fully, but I still really like what you did with this one. Although yeah it does sound like the song has ended right before the bridge would lead to the rest of the song, Hope you do something longer with this one in the future, because if you do, mad respects

Scareev responds:

I've been thinking about this song for a while, and maybe i could do something out of it, like recording the sax with an real sax y'know? bcs experimental jazz is really close to prog, on which, is my fav genre of all time xd, anyways, ty for feedback :))

the effects on some of the instruments (especially the droplets and piano) are really off-mark with the bass which makes it kind of hard to listen to, I like the sax BUT MAN does it not feel well mixed, If you had more time to polish then yeah it'd be 4 stars because the sax infact is really nice. But as it stands -ehhhhh

Casper responds:

yeah, I wanted the bass in this song to be wacky and sort of funky but I overdid it & couldn't be bothered to fix it, same with the sax mix. This is probably going to be the song with the most (wasted) potential from this challenge, since it has a lot of good things going for it but lack of interest and time is it's downfall :p

sorry if I am responding to these reviews a bit late, after this song I kinda stopped replying to them so I'm catching up on them now lmao

Well it sure is a test track, I still feel like it's perfectly fine, maybe could have finished it up to loop it and after the 3rd time it'd quiet down, but yeah I can understand you wouldn't want to do a brand new song on each day. so this is servicable.

MauveDash responds:

I wanted to, HOWEVER I genuinely couldn't (an all-nighter after a 4 hour sleep does that) and threw out a random test I made whilst trying to come up with ideas for Day 2

I like your idea for it, although I feel like if you would want to go for such a thing the whole thing should have been slowed down, or rather fastened up to a 3/4 or 3/8 instead, to make it seem like more of a practice, the song itself is pretty nice to listen to. I don't have any big issues with it, I think it's fine, just lacks a proper ending.

ButterBees responds:

All of these songs are meant to loop, so I don't really get what you mean by a proper ending. But I do kind of see what you mean by changing the time signature thing. That's an interesting idea that I didn't have at the time of writing (literally last night lol).

Thanks for the feedback!

this is really cool, I like the melody the guitar and the drums, it's about right

Arponax responds:

well, lets go even further beyond today. XD

Day 3 of Jamuary? Already? that's like 1/10th of the month gone by now, woah. It's gonna be a shame when it end because here you come with yet another great piece, and man I love how you change the keys right before the middle so rappidly. And chords don't have a 'correct order' for you, you somehow make completely disstatched chords work together really well by really going into the uncharted territories. My only issue with this is that there's no real ending.

Also if you are going to tell one of your favourite recent OSTs, then I have to recommend the ost to Gunman Clive, it's not great, but it's a silly little game I recently 100% on my 3ds and it deserves credit where it's due since it does what it sets out to do very well.

ButterBees responds:

You don't know how much I appreciate comments like these. It really makes my day!
I also recommend checking out some of my stuff from the last year or two! I've really been doing my best to improve over these past few years.

Thanks for the recommendation too! I'll be sure to check it out.
